As a new mode of running schools, Independent University is generated in the advancement of higher education. It is the consequential product of higher education transferred from elite education to mass education and an important part of higher education. On the one hand, it depends on the advantages of teaching and management of ordinary institution of higher education. On the other hand, it develops rather rapidly by using social support and non-government sectors flexibly. Just like any newly emerged things, more and more problems have been found in Independent Universities with the rapid development and expansion of school-running. For instance, the indistinct localization of talents training, the implicit training aim, the unreasonable curriculum arragement, the unstable faculty, the unsound teaching managment and so on, these above problems bring about challenges to the education, teaching, scientific research and management of Independent Unviersities and affect the quality of talents training. Therefore, it is worth studying the above problems to perfect the system of school-running, improve the quality of teaching and learning, management and the developmet of Independent Universities.Based on the concepts of Independent Universities and the mode of talents training, in this paper, the author systematically surveys the development of Independent Universities, the aim of talents training, professional arrangement, curriculum, organization and quality of teaching and learning, and summarizes the localization of the mode of talents training in Independent Universities. By adopting the methods of comparison and analysis, the author analyzes some issues on the deviation from the aim of talents training in the light of the surveyed objects in a certain independent university, for instance, imitating the aim of talents training of the mother university, singularity of professional arragement, imperfect curriculum system, unreasonable structure of faculty, unsound system to controll the quality of teaching and learning and unsatisified atmosphere of campus culture, which seriously affect the quality of talents training in Independent Universities. Regarding the means to solve the problems, the author thinks that it is necessary to construct curriculum system focuing on the ability, prolong the duration of practice, jointly establish practice base by the university and company, training talents with strong ability to work and solid theoretcial knowledge. The faculty should be stablized and encouraged to improve their teaching ability by means of regulations and payment. Teachers are encouraged to adopt various teaching methods like participation and enlightenment to cultivate students'ability of self-determination. Independent Universities can also establish various assessment systems to dynamically control teaching and learning so as to guarantee the quality.
