Research On The University Teachers' Professional Development In The Professional Learning Community

Teachers'professional development is the main trend of educational development in the world and the orientation of educational reform of various countries. The development of times endows the professional development of university teachers with opportunities and challenges, which improves the quality of higher education and pushes its reform. The university teachers' professional development has been greatly concerned between higher education field and universities.The university is the main place where teachers work, study and live; teachers'professional development bases on the excellent environment of universities. Therefore, It is of great importance to research the relationship of university organizational environment and create a kind of peaceful, sharing and cooperative cultural atmosphere. During the middle of 1990s, the strategy of establishing Professional Learning Community (PLC) in schools had notable effect on American school reform and teacher development. Characterized with share and cooperation, the PLC is a successful practice of "Learning organization theology" with the goal of creating peaceful, sharing and cooperative atmosphere, which supplies a brand-new researching angle for the university teachers'professional development research of our country. We believed that the PLC is the suitable environment of the college teachers'professional development. The framework is as the following:Logically, the paper dissertates the current situation and significance of the study, describes the methods of the research and gives a literature view; outlines the university teachers' professional development, including fundamental concepts'defining, university teachers' professional development's content and the researching trend; sums up the main problems and challenges that the university teachers'professional development faces at present compared with the foreign university teachers'professional development and analyses its causes; combining the characteristics of the PLC, makes a conclusion of values which the PLC supplies to the university teachers'professional development; on the basis, it proposes the teachers'professional developing channels in the PLC which include decentralization learning, team learning,group learning,observative learning,cooperative learning and professional file learning, and offers some measures to construct the PLC, including inducting the learning organization idea to promote driving influence;constructing the common prospect to form cohesive force;strengthening the organization motion to enhance the implementation; building cooperative cultural atmosphere to improve the sustaining power;changing leaders'traditional roles to develop the teachers'leadership.
