This study tried to describe job characteristics and job satisfaction of college counselors, and to explore the influencing factors of the college counselors, job satisfaction in job characteristical perspective. About 300 college counselors from seven universities in Zhejiang Province of China accepted our questionnaire survey and interview. The two questionnaires of the Job Characteristic Diagnostic Survey (JDS) and the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) were adopted as measurement tools. Main fingdings as follows: (1) College counselors'job is characterized by higher task integrity, task significance, task autonomy and task feedback and lower task verity. (2) Overall, the college counselors were satisfied with their job, particularly at the aspects of working relationship,the leadership and the management. They regarded the job itself as the important social value. However, the payment and the promotion opportunities were considered to be further improved. (3) College counselors'job characteristics, such as integrity, autonomy, feedback and verity, correlate with job satisfaction, but the task significance do not. (4) There are no significant differences between gender, age and work experience and the job satisfaction.(5) The college counsellors had lower level satisfaction with their income, and the correlation between the income and job satisfaction are positive and siginificant.
