| The development of Maori education policy can be devided into three stages from 1642 to now.They are :Assimilation policy (before 1940),Integrative education policy(from 1940 to 1980 )and Multicultural education policy (from1980 to now).Because of the limitation of the education system and Curriculum,Maori students can not accept higher education.After 1990s,there has a big change on Maori education ,resulting from the support of and Maori people. This paper shows three policies which published in 1999,2005 and 2008,expecting to explore the successful element of Maori education policy.Then,make a recommendation to ethnic minority education in China.This paper may be divided into five parts.First part:Introduce the reason of researching on this subject , define some terms, and introduce research methods etc.Second part:describe New Zealand Maori education policy from three stages, they are assimilation policy, integrative policy, multicultural policies stage.And three new Maori education policies are introduced in this paper.Third part:From seven aspects, Maori education concrete planes are introduced. They are Maori language language learning, students' academic records, beginning, skills, leadership , teaching quality, and scholarship.And summarizing education policy in New Zealand has pertinence, feasible and more specific characteristics.Fourth part:Since the 1990s,Maori education has big change ,we can see it from three aspects:education in schools at various levels of recruit students number, number of certificate and Maori language speakers , and summarizing the success of Maori education.Fifth part: based on analysising the successful element of Maori education, puts forward some suggestions to our ethnic minority education policy in China. |
