To speed up the development of international student’ education is one of the important strategic goals of our country.Since 1950,China has promulgated many policies on promoting the development of international student education,and has made great achievements.However,with the rapid development of our country’s international student education,other countries in the world also pay attention to it which lead to the increasingly fierce competition in the international student education market Therefore,it is of great practical significance to optimize the education policy of international students in order to improve the competitiveness of our country in the market of international students.Starting from the education policy for international students in New Zealand,this paper expounds the basic contents of the main education policies for international students issued by New Zealand in different periods,analyzes the main characteristics of the policies and the problems in the implementation process,sums up the development trend of the latest policies for international students in New Zealand,and puts forward the policies for the education of international students in China based on the current situation of the development of education for international students in China Development suggestions.This study consists of seven chapters:The first chapter is the introduction,which describes the purpose of this study,that is,through clarifying the evolution of New Zealand’s education policy for international students,to make suggestions to China’s education policy for international students in order to improve China’s international competitiveness.On the basis of literature review,this paper summarizes the research ideas and methods,and defines the concepts of "international students" and "education policy" in this study.The second chapter briefly introduces the basic situation of New Zealand and the development of international student education,and clearly points out the characteristics of international student education in different stages and the basis of division.The third chapter to the sixth chapter analyze the different development direction of New Zealand’s education policy for international students in four historical development stages.In the 1950 s,the education policy for international students with the color of "aid";from 1989 to 2004,the education policy for international students changed from "aid" to "trade";from 2004 to 2016,the relevantpolicies were to regulate the education market for international students and maintain New Zealand’s international reputation;from 2016 to now,the relevant education policies were focused on protecting the rights and interests of international students and building a first-class education system for international students.The seventh chapter is the Enlightenment of New Zealand students’ education to our country.First of all,it briefly introduces the current situation of the development of the education of international students in China,points out the existing problems,draws lessons from the education policies issued by New Zealand to solve similar problems,and puts forward corresponding opinions and suggestions.New Zealand’s policy trend of paying attention to the protection of the rights and interests of international students in the new era is indeed helpful to optimize the quality of New Zealand’s international students and ensure international education can be sustainable development.In order to optimize the education of international students in China and improve their international competitiveness,we should increase the preferential policies and funds to help colleges and universities;Introduce relevant supporting policies to help international students adapt to the different culture,and give them reasonable work opportunities Strengthen the relationship between international students and Chinese society;continue to reform the management system of colleges and universities to speed up the provision of high-quality education products and enhance their market competitiveness;establish a systematic international student information network and set up a number of professional institutions to deal with international student affairs efficiently;Protect the rights and interests of international students,and finally improve the international influence of international student education.
