The Study Of Urben Poverty Population's Intergenarational Mobility

In our country, cities are facing the problems of impoverished community expanding and the gap between rich and poor enlarging, as well as differentiation with the social benefit and so on, which have great relations to the social mobility. At present, with our country's social stratum boundary forming, the lower classes'up-flow getting more and more difficult and the tendency of polarization is aggravating, therefore explore the underlying population's up-flow mechanism is a new task the sociologists are facing.This research used structured interview to carry on the interview with part of stricken peoples from three communities in Harbin. And describe conditions of education , occupation, living and income of three generations among the impoverished families. Also has analyzed the changing situation of occupational mobility, education, income disparity and the places of residence among these three generations. The research has discovered that the educational level of stricken people is increasing among the three generations but when compared with the social average, the relative level doesn't change. Occupational status of filial generations are roughly the same as their fathers, the major of the filial generations who have reached the employment age but non-school youth have become the vagrant. The relative income level of the father's generation is better than the filial generation whose situation is similar to the surveyed poor population. Since it is impossible for stricken people to purchase a house, they mainly depending on housing distribution from their company or inheriting father's, so the housing situation usually doesn't change. Generally speaking, the stricken people of three generations is mainly based on the social first floor lateral flow, and it is very difficult to realize the social first floor flowing up to the middle class. In order to discover the factors and the function characteristic which influence the intergenerational flow, the analysis carries on from two aspects--the constitutive factor and the individual factor. In the constitutive factor, the employment system's reform and changes in education system is the main reason. The stricken people and its filial generation's personal quality is a little lower. when they enter the labor market, they will be at the inferiority position, because the lack of the human capital and the cultural capital.All in all, in order to realize the up-flow in the impoverished generations, the educational level of the stricken people's filial generation is the most important attribute.
