Higher Education Strategy Based On Information And Communication Technology In Cambodia

In Cambodia, there is growing consensus that Higher Education (HE) institutions need reforms in order to meet the challenges of the Knowledge Society and its students. As part of the ongoing examination of HEs the role of teaching and learning is under scrutiny. In particular there is a strong emphasis on developing new ICT related.Policy and strategies of ICT in education initiatives since 2005 have been established at ensuring the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) in the Cambodian school system. This paper examines the relevance of ICT in education, the trends in policy and strategies initiatives in the integration of ICT in the Cambodian higher education; especially, empirical evidences on the integration of ICT in the universities, the barriers to ICT integration and the potential of integration of ICT. The paper concludes with suggestions on ways of ensuring effective integration of ICT within the Cambodian higher education system such as improving the ICT infrastructure.
