With the coming of globalization, the society has an increasing demand of talented people who are endowed with the spirit of competition and cooperation. This means that education should not only lay emphasis on the fostering of a person抯 sustainable cognitive abilities, but also attach importance to the spirit of competition and cooperation in the cultivation of the sustainable development of personalities. This paper makes the students of the so-called 揵ad schools?as the objects of study and is guided by the principle of cooperative pedagogy in chemistry education. On one hand, through the discussion of the nature of education and teacher-student relationship and on the basis of mutual trust between the teacher and students, it establishes a new type of teacher-student relationship of comprehension, respect, equality and harmony and a teacher-student cooperation mechanism in classroom-teaching based on the psychological and sympathetic response of bo;h the teacher and students in order to strengthen their cooperation and cultivate the students? cooperative spirit. On the other hand, through three years of exploration in teaching experiments and based on the theory of collective impetus and Johnson brothers theoretical model of the students?competition and cooperation in learning, it estabishes in all respects the teaching model of 揼roup competition and cooperation learning?which cultivates the students the spirit of competition and cooperative through the communication and learning groups from the aspects of cognitive goals, organizing principle, enforcement regulations, teaching procedures and teaching tactics. The result shows that the strengthening oi~th~ interaction between the teacher and students and among the students themselves is not only helpful to the improvement of the teaching quality of the 揵ad schools? but also helpful to the cultivation of the students?ability of competition and cooperation.
