Research Of "Research-oriented Study

揜esearch-oriented Study?was first included in senior high syllabus issued by Ministry of Education in January, 2000, and was adopted by ten provinces and municipalities in September, 2000, when the new school year started. It is a practice-oriented synthetic course in which students are required to select research subjects from their academic and social activities, and to acquire knowledge and use them through independent effort in a way akin to scientific research. A thorough study of this course will help popularize it in a national scale, promote syllabus reform and improve students?comprehensive qualities. I will analyze the necessity of this course in the light of modem educational theories, present educational situation and social development. I will try to prove its feasibility with examples from both home and abroad, taking into account the openness of the course and the combined influence of teachers, students, society and families. I will put forward principles, patterns and substantial steps of the course in operation. I will also expound assessment methods to ensure the successful practice of this new course.
