In the background of education reformation and development in sports colleges,we did research into the new athletics syllabus of sports education professional basiccourses in Shenyang Sports College by analyzing the impacts of new athleticssyllabus on teaching and practical abilities of students majored in sports educationcompared with the old one. We could find out a road to reformation of physicaleducation in teaching in the future by analyzing the differences in curriculum and timeallocation of the old and new syllabuses. We also investigated the improvement ofteaching and practical abilities of2009undergraduates in Shenyang Sports College inthe context of the new teaching syllabus pattern.In this study, we used several kinds ofresearch methods such as the literature research, questionnaire survey, expertsinterviews, mathematical statistics, logical analysis and comparative research methodto explore the developments of the comprehensive capacities of the studentsinvestigated and the deficiencies in culturing practice and training abilities presentlyin order to find out the development direction of the new physical education athleticssyllabus and promote the reformations of education concepts and teaching methods.This study showed that there was still a gap between the general practical trainingabilities of students majored in physical education in Shenyang Sports College and therequirements of Chinese economic and social development for the high-quality sportstalents. The reformation of athletics syllabus should meet the community sportsdemands for talents development by broadening the horizons and keeping up with thesports development.The main conclusions are as following:1.For the2009undergraduates majored in physical education of Shenyang SportsCollege, the capacity of demonstrations and reflection in teaching was poor, theagreement in their own demonstrations ability was low, but the ability ofresourcefulness in the process of organized teaching was good.2. The capability of quene commanding and reflection in the process of organizingteaching in the undergraduates investigated was good, but the ability to master the principles of physical education teaching in arrangement of sports teaching was poorwhile the mastery of the technical theory in athletics was fine, however, theunderstanding of the new teaching methods as well as after-school training methods inschool sports was poor.3. For all the surveyed individuals, in the abilities of organizing competitions aspect,the situation of participating various schools organized competitions was good duingto the ability in organizing competition and good mastering of rules in track andfield competition of undergraduates majored in physical education.4.The ability of the surveyed individuals in equipment using of track and fieldcompetition and the track recording was poor and the majority of the surveyedresponsed a low capability of using the sports equipments and instruments.5.In the new mode of athletics syllabus, there was an innovation in terms of teachingcontent, teaching methods and time allocation to adapt to the requirements ofeducation reform, meanwhile, the new syllabus came up with a more humanity way inculturing and strengthened the practical training ability of the physical educationmajor students.6.The new athletics syllabus reallocated the hours of theoretical instruction andtechnical teaching and increased the hours of key projects based on the drawbacks ofphysical education major students abilities. This hours distribution in the new outlinemet the requirements of practical training in cultivation and increased the hours ofpractice content.7.The new mode athletics syllabus set the children’s athletics and fitness methodscourses to adapt to the requirements of the times andenhanced the target of culturingpractical ability of physical education major students.8.The new mode athletics syllabus increased the contents of practice teaching,enhanced their abilities of combining theory and practice and theoretical andimproved the quality of teaching as well as the level of students’ practical abilities.
