As one of the backbone programs of the major of sports training, the specialized program for football plays an important role in the teaching of the sports department. Its connotation development includes many aspects, and the development of syllabus is an important one.This thesis makes comparison and analysis on the syllabus of the specialized program for football of the major of sports training conducted by some of the higher education institutions in China. Its survey targets at the experts who are engaged in teaching. It attempts to explore the conception of optimizing the syllabus of the specialized program for football of the major of sports training of general higher education institutions in China by taking the data obtained from the materials of the above-mentioned two parts, using the SPSS16.0software as the data processing tool, combining such research methods as literature method, mathematical statistics method and logic analysis method, and analyzing and studying the status quo of program goal, teaching contents, teaching hours, assessment and evaluation, teaching materials and other aspects, with the aim to provide certain theoretical basis for the development of football talents for the major of sports training of China, and to improve the teaching quality of the specialized program for football of sports training.The research results show that:Ⅰ. Each higher education institution has different requirements regarding the program goal of the syllabus of the specialized program for football of the major of sports training. Some institutions do not even make corresponding formulations about certain specific goals, showing that the syllabus does not have complete provisions about the program goal.Ⅱ. The teaching focal points are not highlighted during the teaching process due to excessive teaching contents, leading to the difficult completion of teaching tasks. In order to change this, based on the results of the survey on experts, main parts and extended parts of the teaching contents are reasonably divided, which provides theoretical reference for football teachers to select teaching contents and highlight teaching focal points.Ⅲ. Schools have significant difference regarding the total credit hours for the specialized program for football of the major of sports training. Some schools lack of rational and right recognition of the importance of football theory classes and make more investment in practice competence.Ⅳ. Students’ performance is assessed in two combined ways:the first one is the assessment based on theoretical result, technical evaluation result and result at normal times; the second one is the assessment based on theoretical result, technical evaluation result, skill result and result at normal times. Some higher education institutions ignore the assessment on skills of the students of the specialized program for football of the major of sports training, which is to the disadvantage of the development of the actual working competence, ability to apply and innovate of students.Ⅴ. For quite a long time, the standardization and systemization of teaching and the quality of talent development are affected to some extent because of the lack of uniform teaching materials for the specialized program for football of the major of sports training of general higher education institutions in China.
