In order to deepen the reforms of Physical Education and to strengthen the health education in Guangxi middle schools, this thesis attempts to conduct a research on the educational reform in integrating physical education with health education through the ways of data-collecting, expert-investigation, questionnaire-making, and experiment-conducting, with some teachers and students from 10 typical middle schools in Guangxi as the research subjects On account of this research, physical education and health education in Guangxi middle schools have been investigated, as well as the PE consciousness and health behavior of middle school students in Guangxt.Through the investigation of the teachers and students in 10 middle schools in Guangxi, we see that the development of health education in Guangxi middle schools is relatively slow and imbalanced in different areas. Without any professional health education teachers, persons qualified to teach health education are in great want. PE in Guangxi middle schools needs reforming, as far as the sports fields, equipment, facilities and PE funds in most middle schools are concerned. The development of PE and health education in Guangxi middle schools has been affected and some students failed to receive good PE and health education. Compared with those in some economically developed areas, the middle school students in Guangxi have dim PE consciousness and lack hygiene and sexual knowledge. They suffer from "psychological disease" to some extent and hold wrong health views. Some students have not developed good habits of physical training, health behavior and lifestyles, which prevends them from growing up healthily.Through investigation, we find that the main reasons for the poor achievement in PE and health education in Guangxi middle schools, are as follows:with the health view that is simplex "biomedicine pattern", students, teachers, schools and even the3whole society have formed the wrong idea of "constitutional educatjon" with the misunderstanding of PE and health education. The examination-oriented education has greatly brought negative effects. PE and health education in Guangxi middle schools have been restricted from developing because of the slow development of Guangxi economy, the shortage of PIE and health outlay. The sports materials of middle school PE courses are not suitable to PIE education and health education, in that the matertals increase the students' learning difficulty, decrease their interest in PIE and affect the formation of lifelong PE consciousness. The lack of health education teachers in Guangxi middle schools cripples the expansion of health education in Guangxi middle schools. With the adoption of new work-time schedule and the reduction of courses and their designated hours, it's more difficult to set up health course independently, with a view to the other courses in middle schools. Having analyzed these disadvantages in the development of PE and health education in Guangxi middle schools, we find it's necessary to conduct the teaching reform in Guangxi middle schools by integrating PIE with health education.This thesis attempts to make a research on the feasibility of integrating PIE and health education in Guangxi middle schools. During the investigation, based on both the theoretic and practical foundations, it was found that to integrate PE with health education is in a line with as the law, supported by the government and accorded with the needs of our socialist development. The teaching aims of PIE and health education are basically the same, that is, to build up students' constitution and health, physically as well as mentally, to cultivate their lifelong PE and health consciousness, to better their abilities of taking exercises and health care spontaneously. In a hope to established the foundation for lifelong health and provide theoretic basis for integrating PE and health education.
