In the treasury of Chinese traditional ideological culture and morals, there are many valuable achievements of spiritual culture and traditional virtues which once had good effects on the social and personal development and also should be inherited and developed today. So here come to the school educators if the 21 century these questions: how to inherit and expand these traditional virtues, how to improve the whole nation抯 moral level, how to develop qualified talents in accordance with the social demands and how to enforce quality education more effectively. And this article, Chinese Traditional Morals and Modem School Moral Education, does some preliminary researches into these questions and discusses them by three parts: The first part, The modem values of Chinese Traditional Morals, discusses the modem problems in Chinese young generations, such as belief crisis, value deviation, moral degeneration and so on, in the condition of market economics, culture prosperity and material prosperity. There are certainly outside objective reasons for these phenomena, but in the other hand, they also expose the shortcomings and defects of our school moral education, including the ignorance to our traditional spiritual resources. This thesis quotes a large number of examples and documents to explain these problems and draws a conclusion: The Age is calling Chinese traditional moral education is the prerequisite to the quality education. The second part, The Ideological Resources and Principles of Chinese Traditional Moral Education, discusses that attaching importance to the moral education is a good tradition of Chinese education, and it had formed many ii special thoughts and principles of moral education in its long history developing process. Chinese traditional moral education formed a complex system containing the moral education ideas from the Confucianism as its main stream and those thouglits from the Daoism and the Fajia(~~) as well. In the relationship between culture education and moral education, this system sticks to the priority of moral education and on this basis reached the unity of moral education and self-cultivation, the unity of moral learning and moral practicing and the unity of precept teaching and example teaching. All these thoughts and principles have become a very valuable history legally, which is still useful to our today抯 school moral education. The last part, The reference and practice of Modem School Education to Traditional Moral Education, discusses that traditional ethics are not opposite to modernization, on the contrary, they are the historical cultural prerequisite to modernization. As far as the West and East-Asia countries concerned, their modernization wouldn抰 be successful if they had not depend on their own country抯 traditional spiritual culture. Upon their experiences, this article points out the great effects and significance of Chinese traditional morals on modernization, and also gives three practical methods to Chinese school moral education of the 21 century.
