AbstractsConfucian moral ethics is the important part of Chinese tradition. Though it is, unavoidably, impressed with history, its essence has surpassed well beyond the limits of space-time of history, and it has become a precious legacy, an eternal wealth and resources of our socialist moral constructions. The moral construction of contemporary schools cannot be set apart from traditional moral base---our spiritual wealth, for it is of continuity and succession. Without the succession of traditional morals, there would be no development of new ones. Socialist morals must be soundly based on our national morals. Thus traditional morals will be full of national features and vitality. At present time, none countries in the world show no concern for their own culture, civilizations and traditional morals.Moral education in schools should be carried to transform the traditional moral concepts critically into modem concepts of value. That is to say, we ought to take historical materialism as a guide, to reject the dross and assimilate the essence, to composite and innovate, to adapt ancient forms for present-day use and combine national morals with the characteristic temper of an age as well as the demands of socialist modernization. Meanwhile, to grasp the transformation of guiding ideology, to propagate the traditional morals and to improve moral constructions of schools should be done to improve the quality of the teachers, to construct better curriculum, to enrich out-of-class reading materials, to emphasize practical results and whatever.
