Excellent Traditional Morals And The Cultivation Of Moral Personality Of Contemporary University Students

The great changes took place in our country in the 20th century, especially since reform and opening-up, reflecting on the economic construction, the way of thinking and the life style, but there are also some social problems consequently, many of which have negative influence on our university students. Some university students have lost the direction, meaning of life, are lack of moral self -control and social responsibility. Moreover, hedonism, mammonism, individualism prevail, which has caused the partial loss of undergraduate moral personality. University students are the elite of the society, the mainstay of the Chinese nation as well. Therefore the level of their ethical personality affects directly the result of socialist construction of our country in the 21st century. To pay close attention to the postgraduate moral personality is to pay close attention to the future of the society. Chinese nation has cultural tradition of long standing, including its plenty of excellent traditional morals. It is all these morals that nourish a kind of meaningful moral personality spirits and it has strong vitality until today, so to cultivate moral personality of contemporary university students must be based on Chinese excellent traditional morals. The whole thesis comprises four parts totally. First part is to give definition to these key concepts involved in the thesis - -personality, moral personality, excellent traditional morals; Second part is to investigate the present situation of moral personality reflected in our contemporary university students, and offer some reasons. The article analyzes that neglect of traditional moral education is the main reason that contemporary university students do not form ideal moral personality; The third part is to review and introduce Chinese traditional morals that is considered to be beneficial resource of cultivating moral personality of contemporary university students, based on the analysis of second part; The fourth part is to point out how to realize the organic integration of traditional morals and cultivation of moral personality of university students. According to the university students' situation, the education such as the values, family's ethics, economic morals, occupation ethics, etc. should be advocated and carried on. Meanwhile, some traditional moral education methods should be adopted and improved in light of the psychological mechanism of forming moral personality.
