The Streaming Media has become the most distinct media in the Forth Era Media due to its numerous virtues. Indeed it is a kind of "The Fifth Era Media". But its application in The Modern Distance Multimedia Instruction is not so optimistic. At the same time, though The Modern Distance Multimedia Instruction is promising, its development encounters a "bottleneck", the scarcity of connotation becomes a "shackle" of its development. It is in need of a new kind of technology to break away from the how-do-you-do. The Streaming Media and its application in Modern Distance Multimedia Instruction has turned into a prominent topic.With these questions, this dissertation tries to find the advantages of the streaming media by comparing with "The Third Era Media". It is more capable in constructing a profuse learning environment, facilitating the interaction among the content-, students and teachers, developing an inquiry or collaborative learning. Then the author disclose the disadvantages of the existing application mode, such as lack of guidance of theory, neglecting students' individuality etc. After these, the author expatiates the instructional connotation of streaming media deeply by a detailed research and rigorous experiment. On the basis of the above work, the author constructs three application modes. There ar individual mode, interactive mode and collaborative mode. In the last part, the author tries to realize these modes, and integrate these modes into a platform named The Modern Distance Multimedia Instruction.
