Math anxiety is a problem that has been researched in external educational psychology circle ,but that is not the case in China . This paper studies math anxiety of our Chinese middle school students from the direction of learning mathematics.The author defines math anxiety as a kind of anxiety of subjects which is caused by worrying about mathematics excessively, it is a series of unusual physiology, abnormal action and psychology .It is a variety of abnormal emotion with cognition. The author thinks that students who learn slowly show math anxiety. We expect that we could provide some advantageous theories to our practical math education.The theory of modem mathematics education believes that non-intelligent factor has been playing an important role in the whole process of teaching and learning , it can't be ignored. So we select math self-efficacy, math interest and math anxiety to discuss and analyze.The paper sums up previous results about anxiety, learning anxiety; also reviews on the study in external math anxiety .We summarize the achievements of math anxiety. We think about the relation between math and math anxiety and compare the difference between Chinese and foreign math culture's influence on math anxiety. So we can base our own exploration in this field on these arranging related documents.We want to know the present condition of math anxiety of our middle school student, the relation between math anxiety and math interest, math self-efficacy, math achievement of Chinese middle school students, so the paper introduces the study's background and meaning and point out math anxiety's harmful effect on students.We investigate into the relationship between math interest, self-efficacy, math anxiety and math achievement. Three hundred and eleven students of a middle school are the subjects. The result shows Math achievement is negatively related to math anxiety; Math interest is negatively related to math anxiety, positively related to self-efficacy, they are new views ; Self-efficacy is negatively related to math anxiety; There is a significant difference between boys and girls in math anxiety, the level of math anxiety of girls is much higher than that of boys in cognitive dimension, there is little difference between boys and girls in emotional dimension of math anxiety ; Therexis little difference among grades, but there is a tend of math anxiety level in grades; Parents' knowledge has important influence on the students' self-efficacy, father has a deeper effect on student's intelligent factor, while mother has a greater effect on student's non-intelligent factor. Eighteen percent of the subjects displays math anxiety, this shows our students' current situation in math anxiety. These views are also new .We provide several effective methods to overcome math anxiety.
