The coming of the new century has given China's adults higher education some golden opportunities, also harsh challenges .A team of adult higher education teachers closely connected with production will play a very import part in nurturing talents ,improving productivity and advancing science and technology ,with their profound theoretical knowledge and skill .Many countries in the world have focused on this kind of education because of its importance ,value and function in teaching activities .So ,to set up a just and well-organized competence structure of adult higher education teachers and discuss about its problem of nurture ,has become an important issue with the aim to improve the education quality of adult higher education and deepening the reform of it.Adult higher education teachers in China now meet with three main challenges in the 21th century. First, there are new characteristics in the adult higher education in China in the future chiefly concerning the nurture of compound intellectuals, the intelligentization of teaching modes, the informationization of teaching content and the self-centered mode of leaning. Second, considerations about the new role of Adult higher education teachers: there are a novel view on the university teachers' competence and a new expectation of these teachers' role. Therefore, these teachers should be the leaders, helpers consultants of students and theJresearchers of teaching activities. Third, there is a need of future competent persons. The Department Of Labor of the U.S pointed out in the 80s after a investigation: a person should have five skills and three qualities no matter which job he holds. So the aforesaid three points foist new requirements on Adult higher education teachers.But what is competence structure of the Adult higher education teachers ? It refers to teachers of this kind of education to have the ability to know well the formation tie of variers capacities .Competence is always connected with man's activities and is shown in the latter . So by following the notion "competence related to activities " and analyzing the structure of the activities ,we put forward the basic structure of the teacher' ability .Adult higher education teachers' responsibilities and activities are of great importance .And their activities include their own links .Competence structure is based on the task and requirements of these activities which includes three levels :basic ,middle and high level .The basic level includes the ability to study ,use modern education techniques adaptability and inter-personal communication abilities .In this level ,the ability to get information ,to judge and self-thinking and to self-educate fall into it ;The ability to use modern techniques including computer ,doing self-research ,using modern education techniques and communication ,and also using modern education techniques to teach ;The adaptability includes the ability to for see and predict ,the ability to being persisted and to regulate himself ; Inter-personal ability includes communication and cooperation abilities.The middle level includes teaching ,practice .science investigationand item exploitation abilities .In this level Reaching ability includes the ability to understand adult students ,to instruct self-studying ,to select the content If adult education and teaching methods and mode suitable for adults ,to be quick in teaching activities ,to create a studying atmosphere fitting in with the characters of adult students and last ,to motivate students to study; The practice ability includes demonstration and practical operation; Science investigation includes question-selecting ability ,selecting ,sorting and analyzing archives ability ,handling science investigation and writing reports abilities ;Item exploitation includes knowing and serving society and finding out new curriculums .The high level is the ability to create, which includes thinking to produce new ideas and inventive practice .From above-mentioned, competence structure of the adult highe...
