2001 was a lucky year for China and it was even luckier for the Chinese English education domain. In the year,China successfully became a member of the World Trade Organization and Beijing became the host city for the 2008 Olympic Games. English study has been booming. In last January,the Department of Education had declared that English should be taught to the pupils from the third year in all the primary schools in the towns and cities of the whole country. In September,a new English Curriculum Criterion in Compulsory Education Phase (for experimental use) had been published. The popularization of the Basic Education Curriculum experimentation started. Therefore,the Primary English teaching should meet the demand of the Curriculum Reform and the teachers and researchers should have a new understanding of it.This dissertation discusses the primary English teaching strategy which is the area between the theories of the primary English curriculum reform and the curriculum implementing,probing into the definition,the structure,the characteristics ,the establishing principles and its applied effects.Based on the achievements of the experts and scholars domestic and abroad ,through my close observation of the primary English classroom teaching and my teaching practice,I think primary English teaching strategy is an organic part of the primary English teaching design,and it is also the teaching scheme and measure which is taken to accomplish the teaching aims and to cater for the needs of the students' English learning under the guidance of the psychology ,pedagogy and TESL theories in a given teaching situation and cultural background. It is a process of thinking,making decisions,implementing,observing,analyzing and evaluating,during which the teachers apply the theories to practice self-determinedly ,practicing and proving the theories in the practice.The structure of the primary English strategy refers to a well-regulated component system that consists of the elements in the primary English teaching activities. The primary English teaching strategy acts directly on the pupils,the learning contents and the instructional settings. It is made up of plan and design strategies,knowledge system strategies (i.e. knowledge,skills and culture awareness teaching strategies) ,classroom strategies (i.e. Classroom management strategies,lecture strategies,question strategies,learning strategies direction,emotion strategies,instructional technology strategies and teachers' English applied strategies) and evaluating strategies.As teaching plans and measures ,the structure of the primary English teaching strategy is complicated . And its basic characteristics are problem-oriented to the teaching actions that orientates towards the certain teaching aims and activities and regulates the certain teaching actions,the integration of the function of the structure which means the elements of the teaching strategies work systematically,the manipulability (the strategies has its own clear concrete contents and the teaching activities depend on it) and the flexibility of itself,the enlightenment to the problem-solving which helps the teachers discover the approaches and methods to solve the problem efficiently on their own initiative.At last a primary English lesson that has been researched by my collaborator and me is expounded to illuminate how to make and apply the strategies to the primary English teaching classrooms and what the effect s are in the situation of Internet aided teaching.
