Many studies showed that parental rearing pattern exerted significant influence on the forming and developing of morality. The present research was designed to explore the moral development of middle school students, parental rearing pattern and the relationship between them. EMBU(1993) was used and the questionnaire of moral development was re-formed by the author. 1427 middle school students studying in the province of He Bei were tested. The results indicated:The moral development of the female was higher than that of the male. There was not difference of the moral development between the students who came from cities and the students who came from countries. There was not difference of the moral development between the single students and the non-single students.There existed difference of parental rearing pattern between the male and the female students. The significant difference of parental rearing pattern between the students who came from cities and the students who came from countries was also existed.There existed difference of parental rearing pattern between the father and the mother in the paired-comparison. The mother showed more constructive rearing pattern than the father.The significant difference of parental rearing pattern between the students whose moral development were superior and the students whose moral development were inferior was existed. The parent's wannness and understanding showed significantly positive correlation with middle school students' moral development.Among different groups, the models of influence which parental rearing pattern exerted on moral development were different. The rearing pattern of parent of opposite-sex had significant influence on the middle school students.The significant influence which the difference of parental rearing pattern between mother and father exerted on middle school students' moral development was existed. The different punishment and refusal between mother and father showed significantly negative influence on the middle school students' moral development.The better parental rearing pattern was parent's enough wannness and understanding, parent's no punishment and mother's acceptation.
