To meet the challenge of educational reform and quality education, further education plays a primary important role in improving the professional qualities of the in-service teachers. Theoretical and practical research on elementary and middle school teachers further education is drawing more and more attention.This is a study on elementary school teachers in Changji Hui Autonomous Self-Administration Region in Xinjiang. By using the method of investigation and reference , the author intends to have a thorough understanding of the real situation of the teachers, learn their need for in-service education, analyzing the current problems existing in teachers further education, and bring forth the applied countermeasures and suggestions based on some relative experience abroad.Study has found that the most serious problems, elementary school teachers in their further education are the heavy burden of schooling fund and the contradiction between work and study, the main factors that affect the quality of in-service teachers further education are the low quality of the trainees, and improper training materials, which can hardly meet the need of teachers' practice. Five suggestions and proposed: 1.Train the trainers and set up better quality trainer teams; 2. Constract systematic curriculum programs; 3. Train different trainees in different ways with proper materials and methods; 4. Strengthen the quality assessment of the further education programs; 5. School-based training should be one more effective way for in-service teacher training .On the basis of research, design the proper curriculum for elementary teachers further education to make the results of the research have the meaning for reality and possibility to operate.
