At the turn of the new country, our country has come into a society of old libation. As the free time has been more, it becomes a common sense to keep and improve our health and make our life more colorful. Besides, the health insurance, the life security problem have become the burden of our society more and more. As the above as background, every country positively made policies and took actions to guide the old to take part in sport acts to keep their physical ad mental health and to arise their life qualities. Since the national body exercise play has been put into effect, the number of the aged who take part in sport exercise has been increased. However, the formulation of social sport policies and the improvement of the sport facilities for the aged have just begun. It is very important to make investigation of the situation of activities of the aged, and even more important to make research of old women's sport situation, as the proportion of old women has become more and more. The made of this research with the purpose to make clear of the situation of the health and body-exercising of aged women to probe into the feathers and basic law of the aged women's physical exercise. We hope the research win offer a way of the aged women in our province.We mainly took the methods of research, document, visit, statistics and or so. During the Sep. to Nov 2002,1 went to HeFei, WuHu, HuangShang, AnQing, ChuZhou, LuAn and ChaoHu to investigate with the target group of the aged women of 55 or above. The conclusion is that: the situation of the aged women's body-exercising is by no way of optimistic. Compare with the mid-aged women, the situation is better, but for such a special group, it is for beyond satisfaction. There are some feathers of the situation: First, the added women who take part in body-exercise makes up of 53.5%, keeps pace with the national proportion of 51.4%, as well as the proportion in other big cities, but it shows that being high atthe two ends and low in the middle along the age line of three phase: 55-60, 66-70 and 70 above, that is respectively 28%, 40% and 32%; Second, from literate structure, the old aged women are low in education in all and that the exercises are better than the no-exerciser; Third, from occupation structure, they are mainly workers, belonging to physical profession, while in intellectual professions, the exerciser are more contrary to the situation among the non-profession. Fourth, the first three activities of them in spare time are: doing housework, reading magazine and newspapers, fitness; Fifth, the frequency of their exercising is high. 70% of the exerciser, keep doing exercise one or three time a week, and some even doing it each day; Sixth, the time of their exercising is mostly 30 minutes to 1 hour; Seven, the exercising usually happens in the morning; Eight, they often do exercise by themselves, they do it spontaneously more, the less is doing with friends or families, seldom join the community or club activities; Nine, their exercising place are mostly free areas such as garden squares, pubicplace or residential quarters. The fitness of senior women are concentrated on three main events, jogging, yongko and Taijiquan and Taijijian. Since they have a character of simple methods, slow movements and low in-put. Senior women have a practical outlook on consumption of RE. and mainly try to improve their constitution. The three aid items which senior women expect the society to provide for them are training buildings for free. Conveyance installations, training guide and so on. Through research and study it is known that senior women's training psychology mainly lies in body building, entertainment, making friends, practical use, following others, pursuing beauty and so on.
