The 21st century is an informative and internationalized era based on market economy, taking knowledge as the core and creation as the force. The new era requires talents of new moral therefore the moral education in middle schools has to make a quick and acute response, renew moral ideas, adjust its content, improve its way of teaching and make it more directive and effective to meet the demand of society for further development.This article mainly deals with the tendency of middle school moral education in the new century. It reviews the development of moral education since the founding of the P.R.C.and its revelation for the purpose of drawing lessons both from its success and failure. Next it describes the tendency of social development in the new century and the moral standard for the talents, indicating that the 21st century faces the current of market and intellegence economy and the tendency of informationization and internationalization so a large number of talents of discipline, independence, creativeness, informativeness, patriotism and internationalism are needed. Last, according to the need of social development in the 21st century and basing on the critical assimilation of the past experience, it is pointed out that the tendency is to make the moral education more realistic, more favourable to the students, more synthetical, more scientific, more individualistic, more active on network and receive more assistance from all walks of life.
