The reorientation about the nature of Chinese subject and the popularization of the new Chinese teaching material impel large Chinese educators to focus on the literature education. However, in the face of the new situation, the understanding about such problems as how to comprehend the in notation, function and characteristics of literature education and how to implement literature education effectively in the Chinese theoretical field isn't so complete and thorough. The thesis tries to make some exploration about these problems.The thesis consists of five parts: Part one: The historical review about literature education. From the ancient literature education represented as " poem education " to the discussion about "practical writings " and " art writings " in late and contemporary days, from the implementation of the department instruction of "Chinese" and "literature" in the 1950s after the foundation of new China to the "not regard Chinese lesson as literature lesson " in the sixties and seventies, from the original "resumption" in the eighties and nineties to the whole "renaissance" of literature education in the late nineties and the beginning of 21st century ,our literature education underwent a flexural way. Through the review of the literature education history, we can conclude some negative and appositive lessons and realize the historical trend of implementing literature education nowadays.Part two: the theoretical study of literature education. Combined the investigation on literature nature with characteristics of Chinese teaching, I define the innovation of literature education from broad and narrow senses. Literature education from broad sense means all the activities beneficial to cultivate one's ability of literature enjoying, enhance one's literature accomplishment in school, family and social lives. Literature education from narrow sense means teaching activity teaching process necessary to Chinese teaching in school, so we can define it as literature teaching. The nature is the key of literature education, which decides all the aspects of literature education. Firstly, it is a humanized education rooted on human establishing to enrich the students' soul, developtheir personality, realize their autoeroticism, self-choice and self-perfection; Secondly, it is a spiritual education, which helps the students to find their spiritual homestead, expand their spiritual space, contradicting their spiritual mediocrity.Part three: The function of literature education. The literature bears the functions of appreciation education, culture containment, speech cultivation and thought perfection. It can not only liberate the students' sensibility, foster their fine appreciation taste, but also construct their inner culture circumstance, optimize their culture accomplishment system. Through the first-class literature works, the students can enjoy the essence of language art, get the furnace of peculiar language. Furthermore, literature education is advantaged in promoting the students' visual thought, logos thought and creative thought.Part four: The characteristics of literature education. Experience entirety and creativity is the notable characteristics of literature education. Because the literature is the coagulation of the writers' feelings for the life, the receiving process of the students to the works is" the second experience ". Literature is the whole reflection to social life, so we should desalt its analyzed operation, give prominence to emphases, and strengthen its integration. Literature is also a typical creative activity, based on the creativity exertion of authors or readers.Part five: The strategy of literature education. Based on the understanding about literature and literature education, we advance three strategies, they are appreciation teaching strategy, experience teaching strategy and dialogue teaching strategy.
