The main problem of the teaching English to students at high schools is how to develop the students' reading ability and their language skill. This is the main direction of the English teaching reform in high schools. The original English teaching for high schools is mainly the text teaching. The 3 steps of the traditional English teaching are not fit for the need of the modern teaching. The integral teaching method is proposed to adapt to the requirement of national quality education. The new English textbooks for senior school students are being used. The conventional teaching and learning patterns should be adapted to new conditions.When I use the new English textbooks, I adopt the method of "whole-part-whole" and deem the discourse analysis as the central teaching task. In the teaching, 1 pay attention to developing not only the students' language ability, but also the language communicative competence. And I also have the students as the main subject in the class. The students not only learn and master the language knowledge, understand the complicated texts but also widen the range of their knowledge. It develops the students' intelligence and the ability to think logically, and greatly arouses the students' interest in learning English and helps them to acquire better communicative competence. In teaching English, the integral method is employed in order to meet the need of modern English teaching and reform, thus meeting the requirement of English teaching.
