Viewed as a whole, the developing history of the western moral educationresearch focuses on the grand theory before 1960's. While researching onphilosophy , ethics, pedagogy and other social education, the scholars touch upon theissues of moral education mainly employ theoretical analysis. The developinghistory of Chinese moral education is the history of either grant theoretical studyfrom the perspective of philosophical speculation or experience .The conclusionsdrawn from these studies are often abstract , and seldom can provide moraleducational practices with detailed and microcosmic theories, or if any, they are onlyin the form of experience and can't be extended. In a word, the moral practicesunder the guide of these researches are ineffective. Our age now calls for theexploration to the models of microcosmic research to make up the defects caused bythe grant research. Model of moral education (MME) is the link or bridge betweenmoral education theory and practice . It is the simplification of moral educationtheory and peneralization of the specific moral education experience. The essence ofMME is theme, aim, qualification and operation. Its essential nature of combinationof theory and practice, brings the perfect match with the micro and macro research .Therefore, in 1960's, MMEs are prosperous in western world where a series ofbrilliant MMEs occurs and shines. Since 1990's , China has entered into a stage ofresearch on the MME. Up to the middle of 1990's, the research in China centers onvaluating influential MMEs abroad, among which most introduces and criticizes theMMEs in U.S.A and Europe. After the middle of 1990's, China stars to constructChinese MMEs employing the methodology of model. Nowadays, the constructionof MMEs has become a direction for research, but the basic theoretical research onthe construction of MMEs is not rich and it is even rare to offer strategies on theconstruction of MMEs. From the angle of how to construct the MMEs, the thesisattempt to study and analyze the main four essences of MME, and also discusses the characteristics and strategies on the purpose of prompting the further development of the construction of modem MMEs in China.In the first part , the thesis firstly illuminates the basic theories of the MME and analyzes the its limits .Then the thesis puts forward the view that an efficient MME must possess four essences, namely, theme of MME, aim,qualification and operation.In the second part , to indicate author's view the thesis takes apart the representative four models in modem western moral education ,to name , the cognitive moral development model, values clarification model, the consideration model and the social action model of moral education. Based on the illumination of the four MMEs, the thesis analyzes the revelations to Chinese model construction of moral education.In the third part , the thesis discusses the characteristics of the modern MME and brings forward the strategies of construction of the MME.
