New chemistry curriculum(NC) will be executed in high school in 2004.It bears the characteristic of times, life, basis and option. Chemical experiments and method of researching are especially emphasized .New curriculum which is designed in the form of mould is composed of compulsory course and elective course. It offers the students a variety of elective mould, which is to lag a solid foundation for the future development of the students.The reform of NC will surely result in the changes of teaching and learning methods, and that of the roles of teachers as well. NC centers on the students,thus the roles of the teachers will have to change from those who import knowledge to those training the students how to learn ,from maintaining explaining to guiding, from controlling the class to consulting, working as a facilitator in teaching. The students vary greatly in potential ability,the teachers should watch and respect the developing,needs from different students and provide the appropriate chemistry course for them. In the NC the nature of practice,and circumstance creates a large space for the development of individuality and creativity of the teachers. As chemistry teachers ,we should work as researchers on the NC,taking the classroom as lab ,and all the time rethinking,researchrng,improving and creating in teaching.Teachers should set up the outlook of students before we can hopefully achieve success in the transformation of the teaching roles We should try to make the class open to the students, allowing them to take part fully in the course of the lesson and make mistake in the research.Only in this way can we create the largest space possible for their research,discovery and creation,letting them develop on their own.We teachers should construct whole scientific education,making the students experience the process of knowledge formation and creation,getting to know the ideas and methods of scientific research. We also should set up outlook of completely new curriculum resource developing and making full use of the curriculum resources in and out of the school,leading the students to make use of them and become the master of them.Chemsitry teachers should have a good structure of versatile knowledge, perfect ourselves in the basic knowledge of modern science and humanity, including special knowledge in chemistry and related educational science.Meanwhile teachers should develop capabilities of executing and researching instruction.The objective in the NC that we teachers strive to obtain conclusion as follows.It centers on the learners constructing a teaching and learning process on the basis of the activity on the students' own ,carrying on the teaching work on the basis of the active research from the students, thus to relaxed teaching and learning environment and system for the healthy development of the students' spirit as the main roles and their ability to innovate. Here is a passage of brief investigation from the roles of the teachers in the teaching process.
