21st century is an era of knowledge and economy, characterized by innovation and application of knowledge. With the development of science and technology, competitions all over the world are becoming more and more acute and ferocious. Therefore, the power of a country is more and more dependent on quality of its work force, which must be well educated. Now, our government has recently enacted the new Programme of Reform in Basic Curriculums Education. Among other things, it points out that the reform should change the traditional learning style. That means a changing of the obsolete mode of over-emphasizing passive learning, mechanical training and studying by rote .Instead, we should advocate a new way of learning,e.g., taking pleasure in exploring, and learning forwardly, exploringly and cooperatively. How can teachers apply the ideas of new curriculums to chemistry teaching? This research paper explores the way how to make the students of our school as the objects of the study and how to conduct the way of explorative teaching. On one hand, through the explorative teaching, it changes the single mode of learning, and makes the students learn to know, to communicate, to cooperate, and to explore. Meanwhile, it cultivates the students' scientific spirit, and attitude and explorative skills. On the other hand, through the practice of explorative teaching, this paper summarizes the relevant strategies which include explorative teaching designs (asking questions, raising hypothesis, making a scheme, collecting data, reaching conclusions, rethinking and appraising) as well as the explorative teaching, and its explorative teaching program. Finally, it enumerates some difficulties in explorative teaching and makes some suggestions as to the solution. The experiment shows, explorative teaching of chemistry in middle school proves to be practical; for not only can it change the mode of learning, but it also can be of great help in cultivating the students' scientific quality and scientific spirit.
