Biology is a natural science based on experiments, the teaching of which plays an essential role in biology classes. Presently the Ministry of Education in our country has put forward the general direction and requirements in educational reform Which have created beneficial conditions for Biology teaching in senior middle schools. With the promotion and wide use of the New Course Standard, the teaching materials have been adjusted and modified in many ways, the most outstanding of which is that many explorative experiments are increased to replace testing ones. In this case how explorative teaching is enforced in the teaching of biology experiments deserves our serious consideration. This paper illustrates its definition ,its characteristics and its pattern as well as its current situation abroad. It also analyzes the difficulties faced when this teaching method is carried out in senior middle schools. In addition, the significance and the method of enforcing explorative teaching in senior biology course are clarified and argred. In the meantime the writer analyzes the problems discovered during the research and presents his own viewpoints.
