The secondary school education belongs to the category of vocational education. The goal of running a school is to train the applied people with professional skill. Because of this, the secondary school education has had the strong utilitarianism color from the beginning: stressing skills training and ignoring culture base; stressing professional practice and ignoring comprehensive quality; stressing the requirement of obtaining employment and ignoring the tend of development after the duty. The kind of pragmatic view of education shown in Chinese teaching is: we can have some Chinese or little, or according to the needs of the secondary school student's profession we can make Chinese more precise and practical. Because of the above mentioned, Chinese ability and humane accomplishment are being weakened increasingly. Under the Chinese teaching current situation of secondary school eager for quick success, the paper aims to advocate strengthening literature education in Chinese teaching of secondary school to enrich the student's vocabulary, improve the student's literary attainments, construct humane spirit again, promote the cultural grade, thus improve the student's Chinese ability finally. The paper puts emphasis on probing into the ways of strengthening literature-education from teaching material selected, course offered, classroom instruction, second classroom and so on after stating the reality, necessity, meaning, function and task of strengthening literature education, and the Chinese teaching current situation of secondary school: first, strengthening literature quality and incorporating human cultures in compiling the Chinese teaching material of secondary school; second, offering the elective course of Chinese, setting up the course system of Chinese literature education of secondary school; third, regarding classroom instruction as the main position of literature education; fourth, developing the second classroom activity in Chinese actively.
