State Ministry of Education promulgated " the Nine-year Compulsory Education System-- Syllabus of PE and Health For Junior High School" in 2000. Meanwhile," PE & Health " has been experimented in 38 state-grade primary and secondary schools progressively. The syllables emphasizes to adhere to the principles of education and the guiding thought of " Health First". It focuses on the student-oriented approach and the comprehensive teaching function, augmenting the selectivity of teaching contents and bettering the method of PE assessment and evaluation. As a result, it gives an impetus to the reform of school PE. Compared with other areas, there still exists differentials on account of certain factors, such as historical reasons, social development, economic structure, the way of living, culture and tradition, and so forth, though the course has been carried out in most areas of Xinjiang.Therefore we should pay a great deal of attention to the current situation on the course " PE & Health " in Xinjiang Minority High School.To counter the current situation on this course, we made a research on the understanding of PE teaching reform and the management of PE teaching based on the fundamentals of PE qualified teachers and the teaching of " PE And Health ". The research shows as the followings:The unbalanced development of reginal economics is one of the reasons to decelerate the spreading of the course? The difference between the cognition of physical education and specific practice has a direct influence on carrying out the course effectively; The specialized knowledge and skills of the teachers are not in accordance with the new requirements of the PE course ; Examination-oriented education has the side effects on the course; The speciality of the region and humane environment in Xinjiang affects the course.This article explores the corresponding countermeasures in terms of the analysis of the research:To implement" School PE Working Regulations " seriously and to improve the basic conditions of PE teaching; To regard the course " PE And Health " as an important part in the quality-oriented education; TO implement the laws and regulations and policies concerning education seriously and to perfect the PE teaching management system; To promote the training and cultivation of teachers conscientiously; To put emphasis on the exploration and utilization of PE course resources.By and large, the present teaching situation of the course "PE And Health" in Xinjiang Minority High School has disparities, which need to improve progressively so as to fulfil the reform of school PE in Xinjiang and further promote the development of Xinjiang PE teaching profession.
