With a new round of constant promotion and deepening of the basic education reform in our country, the school-based curriculum development has already become a great action at present in our country. Under the guides of new relevant curriculum reforming theories, a lot of schools are developing various and abundant school-based curriculums, which can specially meet the demands of the schools and their students.As we know, the children of various kinds of ages enjoy listening to the stories, which are always full of wonderfulness and goodness. The stories are also apt to arouse their interests and encourage them into pondering and talking. This thesis tries to find out a better way for the students to learn English well by telling stories during English teaching of junior middle schools, so that their interests can be developed. The aim is to improve their synthetic abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing and to establish a kind of attractive study and life for the students.This thesis has carried on a research to explore from several following respects mainly: First of all, it has described the meaning and the concept of the school-based curriculum development and also analyzed the curriculum development both in and abroad; Secondly, considering Jiangnan middle school, where I stay, as a research object of the case , the thesis has given the full introduction and discussion on its background, theoretical foundation, the curriculum designed and carried on about the curriculum copy of " TO TELL STORIES, TO LEARN ENGLISH ", which is adapted to this junior middle school students; Finally, according to the phased assessment on implementation of the curriculum, the thesis has proposed its further imaginations of improving.Frankly speaking, it is only a try or exploring that we develop such a curriculum as " TO TELL STORIES, TO LEARN ENGLISH ", it must accept further inspection of practice. We still need to take more steps to make it more effective in future, we will regard advanced education thoughts, ideas as guidelines in flowing-up research and practice, so that we can make it improved and perfected constantly.
