Modern psychology on recognition has shown that the low-level knowledge, intelligence and skills the students have mastered are the basic prerequisites of learning high-level knowledge, intelligence and skills. The chemistry teaching of the Full-time Ordinary Senior Middle School is a high-level chemistry education based on nine-year compulsory education. Therefore, connecting the chemistry teaching of junior middle schools with that of the senior middle schools is the necessary step and measure to lessen the disparity between the junior chemistry teaching and the senior chemistry teaching and to improve the quality of the chemistry teaching in middle schools. Though, there are few people who take interest in it and do some research into it. Since 21st century, even fewer people have done it. Thus, I do the following study according to the requirement to education in modern times.In order to study the factors that affect the teaching connection, this article does some research on the present situation of teaching from the two stages: the junior middle school and the senior middle school. And I find that the factors which affect the teaching connection lie in the following points. First, both in junior middle schools and in senior middle schools, there are some teachers who pay little attention to the connection and have old teaching ideas. Especially the teachers of senior middle schools, who know little about the situation of study, often go on giving the lessons fast on a high base. That makes a number of students can't agree with the study life in the senior middle school from the beginning. Second, though many junior middle school graduates go into the senior middle schools, they haven't made good preparations for the entrance to the senior middle schools. There are many problems in the mastery of the skills, study habits and study methods and so on. Third, in recent years, the textbooksof junior and senior middle schools in our city have changed a lot. The textbooks of senior middle schools have changed more. It is difficult for teachers to know about and master these changes in a short time. So it brings trouble to the teaching connection.In accordance with the problems above, I think that if the problems of chemistry teaching in junior and senior middle schools want to be solved thoroughly, it is necessary for teachers to try their best both in junior middles and in senior middle schools. What should be done in junior middle schools is as follows: changing the teachers' teaching ideas, strengthening the recognition of the connection, helping students to form good study habits, mastering basic learning skills, building proper knowledge construction and so on. What should be done in senior middle schools is as follows: First, making a thorough study on the textbooks of junior and senior middle schools to find the connecting points of knowledge between junior middle schools and senior schools, connecting the knowledge by means of studying the new based on the old and connecting the new with the old in the teaching. Second, carrying out the connection of teaching. Third, bring up some instructions on the methods of studying and thinking according to the characteristics of the chemistry. Fourth, strengthening the experimental teaching to improve the students' ability of operating an experiment, of designing an experiment and of solving problems with the help of the experiments. Fifth, strengthening the teaching of emotion to change the single psychological activities into the unified and overall psychological activities and so on.I do a teaching research on the freshmen of Grade One in our school since September. 2002. Above measures have been taken. After one year's study on the teaching, the interest of studying chemistry and the marks of the students in the Experimental Classes have been greatly improved.
