Composite practical activity is a new kind of curriculum cropped up in the current reforms of the elementary education. In June of 2001, the Ministry of Education lay down the rule that the composite practical activity is a kind of required course in primary schools and high schools, which emphasized that the pupils' practice is indispensable in order to strengthen the consciousness of exploration and creativity, to leam the methods of scientific research, to develop the capabilities of utilizing knowledge, to foster the sense of social responsibility. In the curriculum program, the education of information technology should be intensified, the consciousness and abilities of utilizing information technology should be fostered, the general necessary technologies and occupational division of labour should be sized, and basic technical abilities should be formed. The establishment of composite practical activity curriculum is bound to have far-reaching and wide influence on the reforms of elementary education.The 5-year normal school enrolls junior secondary school graduates and trains them as primary school teachers who accept college education. It plays an important role in teacher training program in our country. Due to its aims, the 5-year normal school is simultaneous or preferential with the reforms of primary education. The aims and to step up the realization of integrated-educational-reforms between primary schools and normal schools, to help normal school students to keep informed about the developments of reforms of elementary education, to be well prepared for being primary school teachers in knowledge and capabilities and experiences, to effectually shorten the adapting times, and complete the mission of offering talents for educational reforms of primary schools. Now, the reforms of elementary education are carrying at in all levels of experimental schools. But in 5-year normal schools, composite practical activity curriculum isn't set up, and relevant research on educational reforms isn't carried out yet. This kind of disjunction is harmful to normal school's educational reforms and can hold the normal schools back, and being harmful to sustainable development of primary school reforms, too. Consequently, the research in theory and practice of composite practical activity curriculum is very important for 5-year normal schools, and it is the base of this thesis.There are six parts in this thesis as follows:1. Introduction. This part discusses the meaning of concerned conspectus, retrospectsthe sources and developments of composite practical activity curriculum, epitomizes the essence and characteristic, and illustrates the value and importance of the curriculum for 5-year normal school.2. The basic theories of composite practical activity curriculum. This part analyses the theoretic basis from different facets, as philosophy, cultural sociology, pedagogy, psychology and curriculum.3. The design of composite practical activity curriculum in 5-year normal school. This part sets up the goals, contents and structures of the curriculum, relying on the basic theories and models of "curriculum development" and "curriculum construction".4. The implementation of composite practical activity in 5-year normal school. This part advances the basic pedagogic model: opening pedagogy, and the main learning model: study-learning.5. The evaluation of composite practical activity in 5-year normal school. This part discusses the goals, functions and principles of curriculum evaluation, advances the evaluating model of composite practical activity curriculum: develop-based evaluation model.6. The management of composite practical activity curriculum.
