To adapt to the status quo of economic and educational globalization as well as the development of science and technology under new circumstances,STEAM education with multi-disciplinary integration comes into being.The interdisciplinary integration of science,technology,engineering,mathematics and art advocated by STEAM education plays a positive role in cultivating students' capacity for interdisciplinary project learning,while the Problem-based learning based on real situations can foster students'problem-solving ability with flexible use of learned knowledge.There is a certain overlap between STEAM education and PBL.Therefore,the integration of the two teaching concepts into the development and implementation of high school comprehensive practice courses can make such courses work better and cultivate students'comprehensive quality.In the paper,STEAM education and PBL have been reviewed.With the references of some educational teaching theories such as pragmatism,humanism,situated learning theory,constructivism and multiple intelligence theory,this paper proposes a STEAM comprehensive integrative practical activity curriculum integrating biology with other subjects,and makes a contrast between PBL teaching method and ordinary teaching methods.Questionnaire survey and interview have been used to learn about students' views and demands on the integrative practical activity curriculum.The study shows that the high school integrative practical activity curriculum in our school is occupied by other subjects to some extent,and the students' recognition of the teaching content is yet to be improved.Students hope that the learning content of the integrative practical activity curriculum can be more closely related to life.Additionally,they expect that teachers can adopt more process evaluation methods combining with students' overall performance.On this basis,a comprehensive practice course of biology named Talking with the Body has been developed with 12 lessons within one semester.The course consists of five parts,namely,skin,blood,breath,teeth and bone,each of which is set with relevant tasks.The whole theme activity is connected by the protagonist Xiaoya in the hospital emergency room.All the themes reflect the integration of multi-disciplines of STEAM.In the research on teaching action,I have selected students from the second semester of senior high school and conducted a one-semester PBL teaching research.In the interview after the implementation of the course,it is found that the students who have studied this course give the course content a higher rating than the students in the control class.Furthermore,their hands-on ability,teamwork ability and interdisciplinary learning ability have all been improved to a certain extent and they have a higher recognition of PBL teaching.The STEAM course will be further revised in the context of student feedback in subsequent studies.
