The latest version of the syllabus issued by the state requires the students develop the habit of reading by themselves and they read materials from different angles and at various levels. Application of the narrative theory to Chinese reading teaching can be one of the best ways to fulfill the requirement. This paper focuses on the study of the angles, time and blank points in narrations. It first points out the significance of applying the narrative theory to Chinese reading teaching in high schools and also introduces the conceptions of angles, their classification and the angle categories of narrations. This part makes it obvious that the changes of narrating angles provide a multi-angle and multi-plane reading approach for the students and benefit them as well. Then the paper turns to the introduction to time sequence and rhythm, their classification and the identification of tune sequence in narrative works, and afterwards the discussion on the use of the related reading skills by the students. The last part of the paper is centered around the issue how the teacher helps the students to note, discover and fill in the blank points in the selections they read, hoping that that will facilitate the development of the students' ability to read narrations better.
