Writing is a comprehensive skill , which requires that a writer should have a high level of though as well as master and use the specific knowledge , words , writing principles and techniques flexibly .Information and efficiency are becoming increasing important in the world of today , and this set a still higher demand on teaching writing . But the present situation of it is not very satisfactory .Therefore , the newly - published <> emphasizes that , "...devote much attention to the process of writing , grasp the steps of drawing materials , planning , drawing and polishing " "... make the students learn how to write in practice , improve their skill in self - correcting and peer - correcting . The writing learning must be concise and useful . " Although the reform of teaching writing has never been at a standstill , it often focus on not the whole but some parts , not the process but the links , and can not make a system .The reform of teaching writing must lay stress on the whole and the process : assigning topics-change the single form into varied ; Correcting -put one pens into scores of pens ; commenting - turn " teachers - only " into students speaking ; Instructing - make the closing form open .Being examined from the theory system , the process is comparatively scientific and reasonable . This is not only because the process possesses directing , performing and feedback , the three essential factors to a complete teaching composition ; but also because during the process , feedback and adjust are repeatedly taken by using correcting and commenting .Being checked from the teaching process , it brings the initiative of the students into full play and it is one of the effective measures which help the Ss get out of the low ebb in writing . Teachers should give the Ss free hands to observe the things , experience the lives , refine the subject , and work out the plot ingeniously . The duty of teacher is giving a proper inspiration .Even when correct their compositions , let the Ss take part in it actively . They can correct their compositions by themselves or in groups . They also can have a class commenting.Such a reform can bring various effect; the operation is becoming easier ; the information transmitting is enhancing , the invalid work is reducing ; the students' skill is fostering and the level of their writing is improving .
