What is Chinese language used for ?What is the right way of the education of Chinese language ?Based on the theories of linguistics , pedagogics , psychology and educational psychology , this essay focuses on the theme that the core of education of Chinese language should be the "speech" , and it explains that the connotation of the Chinese is not language but "speech" . So it is necessary to distinguish the concept of "speech" from that of "language" in teaching Chinese in our high schools .Instead of giving the students only the language knowledge , the essence of teaching Chinese language is preferably a cultivation of their spirit and soul and an inspiraion to their wisdom of and enthusiasm for using Chinese language.Therefore , under the guidence of the ideology of "speech" , the article seeks after the teaching regularity suitable to the feature of Chinese , our mother tongue . The essay also searches in a right direction for the scientific methods of the education of Chinese language theoretically and practically .
