Based on the "labour market segmentation" theory, the thesis deeply studies the housing inequality of urban resident in wuhan city. At the methodological level, statistical research is adopted.First, the thesis defines two notions : labour market segmentation and housing inequality. Then classifies laobour market segmentation as occupation segmentation , the work-unit segmentation , the income segmentation and the registration segmentation; classifies housing inequality as inequality in the housing property , housing constitutes, housing quality , housing area and total housing standard.Second, theoretical hypotheses are formulated to demonstrate : (1) occupation segmentation in labour market can promote the housing inequality of urban resident.(2)the work-unit segmentation in labour market can promote the housing inequality of urban resident.(3)the income segmentation in labour market can promote the housing inequality of urban resident.(4)the registration segmentation in labour market can promote the housing inequality of urban resident.Thirdly, based on the datas of housing research of wuhan city's resident in 2002, the thesis analyse the relationship between the labour market segmentation and housing inequality of urban resident.Finally , we introduce average monthly income of family members into the study, analyse the relationship between the average monthly income segmentation of family members and housing inequality of urban resident., and expresses some author's own ideas and thinkings on the future study.
