On The Development Of Higher Vocational Education In Yanbian District

Higher vocational education is a kind of post education of senior school. It is the important part of higher education instead of second higher education.China is making an effort to establish a comparatively prosperous country. She is in urgent need of lots of qualified technicians who have practical skill. Compared with other ordinary higher education, higher vocational education emphasizes the development of practical and technical skill and the instant service to the district economy. That is why China is now paying great attention to the development of higher vocational education and determined to make it the new point of growth.After the Second World War, many western countries enlarged the scale of higher education in order to meet the increasing need of qualified skilled workers of the society and the increasing need of higher education of various classes of people. And these countries went into the phase of mass and even universal higher education. The United States, Canada, Germany and even Japan did it successfully through establishing community colleges, multi-technical colleges and short-term colleges.China learned a useful lesson from these western countries, and higher vocational education gained quick development in a very short time. It has now become an important part of higher education.Yanbian District is now faced with the double chances of establishing a comparatively prosperous society and developing the Former Northeast IndustrialBase. Higher vocational education sees the prospect of development.This paper has analyzed the problems existing in present higher vocational education in Yanbian District, and given some corresponding suggestions.
