In the age of knowledge economy, the illiterate does not purely refer to the person who has no knowledge but it refers to the person who cannot continue to study and update their knowledge and skills. Therefore, it becomes a mainstream of teaching reform to research the teaching pattern in which the students are the main body. The research on the geography teaching in senior middle school belongs to this field. The essay dissertates the structure of the teaching model from theory and practice.First, analyze the background of the pattern, including the thought on actuality of geography teaching at present; the significance of the teaching-studying method in which the students are the main body; and the analysis of the present situation of geography teaching at home and abroad. Second, the writer analyzes the definition, purpose, theory base and character of the teaching pattern. How to bring into effect and the existing problems are also discussed. At last, the writer proved the feasibility and significance by practicing.The core of the model is to make the students study with the guidance of the paper given by the teacher. The paper is designed by teacher before class and handed out to the students in class. The contentof the goal, the knowledge structure, the analysis of the important and difficult points are filled by teacher but the rest (the weather, their mood, the chart of the knowledge structure, the feedback excises, my confusion, the related knowledge I know etc. ) are filled by the students. The paper has a variety of functions in the whole teaching process, such as presentation of the study aim before the lesson, the instruction of the study method, and the function of problem-solving, self-test, feedback after class and so on. In the whole teaching-studying process, the students study lesson with the instruction of the paper independently. And there are enough interactive activities not only between the students and the teacher but also among the students. Gradually they master the basic knowledge and the skills; then formed the suitable study strategy and self-teaching ability. At last, the students learn how to study, how to cooperate and how to live in the interactive activity.
