A Discussion About The Feasibility Of Teaching Geography In Both English And Chinese In High School

It has turned out that English has become the main language in science communication in the world. In the past ten years, science achievements in most of the subjects in the world have been reported and recorded in English .As China succeeded in attending in WTO in 2001 and became one part of the global economy, English, as an effective tool of communication, has become more and more important in China. There is a great need of more experts in various fields who also have a good command of English. On the other hand, most of the students have learned English very hard for more than ten years but can not use English well. Obviously, one can not learn English well only in class without a proper English-speaking environment. At present , a new teaching method has been raised, that is , teaching a subject in both native and second language. It is called bilingual teaching method. According to this method, both English and Chinese can be used in the course of teaching a subject.Some people might worry about that Bilingual teaching method in both English and Chinese may bring some problems as well asbenefits to students . I have estimated that it will surely be well received by students and society. I will try to prove through my own teaching experience that bilingual teaching method in both English and Chinese is feasible in geography class in high school.In the very beginning, this article states the importance of bilingual teaching method. Then it explains its feasibility . The most important part of my essay is focused upon the experiment on bilingual teaching method in both English and Chinese. I introduce it in several aspects, including the reason of the experiment, controlling the changeable factors, designing experiment, examine, conclusion and so on.From my own teaching experience, I know that bilingual teaching method in both English and Chinese is feasible in geography class in high school. Besides , it' s very important to students in their English learning as well as their character education , which has already been stressed for many years both by our government and educational department.
