An Initial Probe Into The Evaluation Of School Effectiveness To Normal Secondary School

The research prelude on school effectiveness had been undrawn by Kerman andhis colleagues in 1966.This research and a series of related research at that time haveindicated that the impact which school had made on students'learning achievement hasbeen less important than that economic background of students had made on their learningachievement. Some pursuers had begun to review school effectiveness and had madeactive and significant research. They had made a lots of academic and practice research onthe concept of school effectiveness and the character of school which have effectivenessand the factor which have effects on school effectiveness. So, what is school effectiveness?What is the character of school which have effectiveness? What is the status of schooleffectiveness in our country? Are the evaluating indexes from overseas suit to evaluateschool effectiveness of our normal secondary school? Based on school effectiveness,exemplifying three material normal secondary schools, this paper probes the issue ofschool effectiveness evaluation from theoretical and practical perspectives. In thetheoretical part, two terms are defined on the basis of analyzing the different standpointsabout school effectiveness and effectiveness: Furthermore, the paper explicates thenecessity and significance of carrying out evaluation of School Effectiveness.
