The occupational expectation is the desirousness of certain kind of job , and what kind of job a graduate choosing is always determined by his(her) occupational expectation . Studies used to emphasis on the analysis of the structure of the occupational expectation and the expected value of the occupation , but there has no research been established on the model of the relationship between the occupational expectation and realization , and it is also less likely to consider the difference between the occupational expectation and realization of the students that come from different school levels or from different majors.This text is based on the data of the questionnaire for the students who majored in science and engineering and graduated from the DaLian University of Technology in 2004 ,that has made use of the software Spss11. 5 as the tool , and has analyzed the structure of the occupational expectation of the graduates of science and engineering and the factors influencing occupational expectation and actual employment, and it also constructs" the model of the relationship between the occupational expectation of the graduate and realization of science and engineering ". The result shows as following :1 .The occupational expectation of the graduates of science and engineering reflects the characteristic structure that regards the external value factors as equally important as the inherent value factors; The external value factor is most reflected in the expectation of the salary and the income , the quality of the company , the district of the working place ,the stability of the job , the superiority of the working environment ,etc. The inherent value factor makes people to develop their personal ability , their interesting and their major.2. The results of the analysis that regards graduate's personal overall qualities social environment, and family background as the independent variable shows that: personal overall qualities, social environment, family background have direct influence on the occupational expectation; to make the regression analysis that regards personal overall qualities , social environment, family background , occupational expectation as the independent variable, and actual employment as dependent variable, the results reflected that there is direct influence on actualemployment in personal overall qualities , social environment , occupational expectation and the family background was not directly influent the actual employment , but there is indirect influence on actual employment through the occupational expectation. The qualities of the graduates include knowledge level , social practical experience , integration capability ,etc. The social environment mainly associated with the occupation demanding situation, and the family background includes family's economic situation and the educational lever of the parents.3. The graduates' occupational expectation has positive effect on actual employment, as a result , the reasonable occupational expectation will improve the actual employment and lead to better actual employment situation ; at the same time , lower occupational expectation will bring worse actual employment. Therefore ,it is no need to require students to reduce the expected value of employment.4. The overall level of the expectation of the graduates of science and engineering is much reasonable and is slightly higher than actual employment.
