As we enter the information age of 21st century, an employment of Internet in learning is becoming an obvious tendency in acquiring knowledge and developing ability. The Learning Style under Internet Learning Environment is a new type of learning approach different from traditional school teaching. It will exert an influence on mankind's styles of thinking, styles of life, and styles of survival in the future. The prosperity of modern distance education and open universities home and abroad is just an attempt at and practice of such a new approach. Therefore, it is of both theoretical and practical significance to make a comprehensive and systematical research on this new type of Learning Style. Introduction, this part, illustrates the background, significance, methods, and main content of the research, and it also talks about the history and present situation of its study home and abroad. The first part of the thesis begins with an analysis of the connotations, the characteristics, and the system composing of Internet Learning Environment. Then it puts forward the "5-5 pattern"of Internet Learning Environment, and points out that Internet Learning Environment is not just a technological support for learning, but its essence lies in the profound effect on Internet learners. The second part of the thesis analyzes the connotations, characteristics, essential elements, and basic patterns of the Learning Style under Internet Learning Environment. The author believes that Internet Learning Style is combination of the action pattern and mental inclination of learning under Internet Learning Environment. In its appearance, Internet Learning Style is defined that Internet learners learn with the help of Internet—a medium different from traditional classroom; but in its essence, Internet Learning Style embodies learners'mental inclination manifested in the process of learning. The thesis, based on an analysis of the connotations and characteristics of Internet Learning Style, points out that Internet learners, Internet tutors, Internet, and Internet courses constitute the essential elements of the Learning Style under Internet Learning Environment. The basic patterns of Internet Learning Style include lecturing, tutoring, discussing learning, exploring learning, and cooperating learning, etc. The third part of the thesis reveals the problems existing in Internet Learning Style by investigating and analyzing the present situation of Internet Learning Environment, the condition of Internet learners, and the present situation of Internet Learning Style. The fourth part of the thesis deals with the designing strategies and basic design patterns of Internet Learning Style. It puts forward the designing notion of considering Internet Learning Style as a whole, and ranks the system of complete Internet Learning Environment into three levels—material level, function level, and consciousness level, on which is constructed an operating platform and exchange space for teachers and students under a communicative Internet Learning Environment. Finally, the author illustrates the five basic stages of Internet Learning Style in a comprehensive view. Conclusion summarizes the whole thesis, and in the meantime, points out its strengths and weaknesses. It also gives a direction for future research.
