Modern society was the period that it changed most fast, it also was the most active ofeducation reform. Education changed greatly with the trasformation of society structure ,thedevelopment of society politics,economy and culture. Through the education reform, theschool system of modern west was been introduced, the traditional curriculum system wastransformed gradually. Finally the modern education system was established in china. But thecurriculum reform must lead to the change of textbook and teaching method .The textbookand teaching method system of middle and primary school has been established in modernchina after the modern education system was been established. During the time, it wentthrough the change of traditional textbook and teaching method in Westernization Movementperiod, the embryo of textbook and teaching method of modern middle and primary school inreform movement period, the basic foundation of textbook and teaching method of modernmiddle and primary school in the Republic of china initial stage period, and the modernchange of textbook and teaching method of modern middle and primary school in the May 4thMovement of 1919 period .In this time, the reform of the textbook and teaching method ofmiddle and primary school from the initial development to the gradual perfect not onlypromoted the development of modern education, but also laid a foundation for the presenttextbook and teaching method of middle and primary school and provided history experience. The history is not been severed, the development of textbook and teaching method hadaction that formed a connecting link been the preceding and the following in ordinary middleand primary school of modern china. The study thinking that this paper takes is thecombination of systematic study and key further study, the different times of modern chinahistory has been regarded as time clue, the paper closely combines the education reform in thedifferent history period, sorts and analyses the basic characteristic of the change and thedevelopment of middle and primary school in the modern china. Sums up history experienceand lesson, guides the going on basic education reform in the present china, promotes thebuilding of the curriculum reform and textbook and teaching method . By sorting the course of textbook and teaching method of middle and primary school inmodern china ,we may draw some conclusions: the textbook and teaching method is a keyfactor that ensure curriculum reform success; the change of textbook and teaching methodmust keep the peace of curriculum reform; high quality compiling textbook troops and goodtextbook publishing mechanism is the base that ensure textbook quality; the textbook reformmust solve the relation of inheritance,development and creation; the examination andapproval of textbook must have relevant assurance mechanism; the introduction of teachingmethod must start from condition of our country, and accord with the reality of teachingreform.
