| Peasant Cultural and Technical Schools in rural towns(called "Peasant Schools" for short in the following text) came into being in the 1980's. It is a very important orgnization for the peasants not only to learn knowledge but also to master skills and improve themselves. Therefore, it takes great effects on China Peasant Education.Many Peasant Schools was canceled for mass reasons at the end of 1990's, which slowed down the development of Peasant Education. In the new century, three important files naissanced which are Some Advice from Education Ministry about How to Strenthen Adult Education inRural Areas in November, 2002, the Decision from State Department on strengthening Peasant Education in September, 2003 , Some Advice from the Chinese Communist Party and the Central on the Policies of Increasing Peasants' Income in January, 2004. From then on, Peasant Schools seems to have more energy and have been taking on a new look.This research mainly adopts the investigative research method. The author deeply interviewed six Peasant Schools in Changde City, Hunan Province and paid attention to some others as assistant cases as well. At first, the thesis exhibits the current situations of Peasant Schools impersonally and analyses the reason of Peasant Schools'development, transformation or cancellation. Secondly, it reveals the experience and lessons of these schools after serious consideration. It also gives some ponders on the future development of Peasant Schools at last.The main contents of the thesis are as follows:The first chapter points out the genesis, backgrounds and significance of this research, then defines the key words.The second chapter is research summarization. On the basis of documents and data summed up, this part analyses the main achievements and subsistent deficiency of this research field.The third chapter is about research method. This chapter explains how to choose the research method and how to fix upon the research objects. Furthermore, it gives some ponders about the validity and generalization of this research.The fourth chapter is about the current situations and development of Peasant Schools in Changde City, Hunan Province. The contents of this chapter includes: a) narrating the economic and social backgrounds of the city; b) tracing the past development course of the Peasant Schools; c) showing the current developmentsituations of the Peasant Schools in this city; d) briefly introducing the development situations of three kinds of Peasant Schools which are well-developed Peasant Schools, transforming gradually Peasant Schools and already-canceled Peasant Schools.The fifth chapter is the case analyses on the well-developed Peasant Schools. This chapter introduces the backgrounds and current situations of well-developed Peasant Schools, sums up the reasons for being successful and forecasts the development trend of this kind of Peasant Schools.The sixth chapter is the case analyses on the transforming gradually Peasant Schools. Based on the author's investigation and research, this chapter depicts the situations before or after the transformation of the schools. Then, it discusses the reasons for transformation and gives some related considerations at last.The seventh chapter is the case analyses on the already-canceled Peasant Schools. Firstly, the author traces the resources of these schools after they were canceled. Secondly, he gives a general status of theses schools to the readers. Finally, the author explains the reasons for being canceled, and brings forward some related advices.The last chapter, which sums up the conclusions of case analyses, is about some thoughts on the reformation and development of Peasant Schools, both for common Peasant Schools and for each of the three kinds of Peasant Schools. |
