As every coin has two sides. Beauty and ugliness are integrated and inseparable. The education of judging ugliness in literature works plays an important part in the teaching of middle schools, which is one of the vital method in improving the Chinese Language teaching quality. As far as the education of appreciating beauty is concerned, Chinese Language teaching specialist and a large number of Chinese teachers have done wide range of research and discussion from the aspects of appreciating the objects, corpus, appearance, consciousness and the like. The research on appreciating ugliness still remains weak and vacant. As a consequence, it is necessary to begin research on this aspect in middle school Chinese teaching. This article tries to survey the esthetic value of the education on the teaching of literature works based on the judging ugliness which is concerned with the current education, as well as the theory of literature and esthetics, so that the students' ability to criticize the ugliness and overall development could be greatly improved and elevated. It is hoped that this research could supply a plausible solution for the teaching of Chinese literature works. This paper consists of three parts.The first part defines the origin and boundary of the education on judging ugliness. Firstly, this paper explains that the education on judging ugliness is not caused sufficient concern, and there is hardly any clear and deep research. Therefore, the education on judging ugliness still waits for further research and discussion. Secondly, the role of ugliness in the history of esthetics is analysised briefly, an explanation is given concerning the concept of ugliness, ugliness in real life, in art and the education on appreciating beauty and judging ugliness.The second describe the value of the education on the judging of criticizing ugliness. It should be realized that the education on judging ugliness has the function of helping students to better understand the society and purify thestudents' mind as well as developing the students' competence and intelligence. Therefore, it is necessary that the education on judging ugliness should be carried out so as to facilitate the students' overall development. It is evident that the education put the education on judging ugliness in literature works into practice.The third part is concerned with the practice of education on judging ugliness. To carry out the education on judging ugliness effectively, the educators should take necessary and correct methods. This section has some trial considerations from the following four aspects. First of all, educators should guide the students to distinguish the different types of ugly images. The image ugliness is divided into appearance ugliness with spiritual beauty, spiritual ugliness with appearance ugliness, appearance and spiritual ugliness, the existence between beauty and ugliness, and the passive ugliness. Secondly, the teachers should guide the students to recognize the variety of ugliness which demonstrates in different forms. Direst presentation, abnormal presentation, contradictory presentation and hypocritical appearance. Thirdly, teachers should be flexible in using various measures for appreciating the ugliness. The four primary kinds of measures are as follows. Motivating the sound emotional experience, open the imaginary channel for judging ugliness, extruding the innate features of the contents and guiding the students to appreciate the beauty.
