A Study Of Chinese Peasant's Modernity--Based On The Investigation Of Five Fujian Coastal Areas

The modernized question has been a hot issue that every discipline is being studied all the time, but we often neglect the question of personal modernity. Up until now, we haven't paid enough attention to this question in our country.Though some scholars have carried on this research,mostly lay particular emphasis on teenagers'group,and less likely to study peasants' group.Regarding peasant's group as research object,we use firsthand materials which are got from questionnaire investigation in five coastal areas of Fujian Province,carry on factor analyse to the composition of peasant's modernity,describe the acquisition situation of present peasant's modernity concretly, analyse various kinds of factors that influence peasant's modernity,investigate the behavior of peasant's modernity, put forward the countermeasure and suggestion to train and improve peasant's modernity finally.Our finding: 1. Peasant's modernity is a series of special personality.It is formed by these 9 factors:the equal view of two sexes,efficiency sense,innovative consciousness, independent consciousness,self-insurance consciousness,family education view,new experience view,technology awareness,concept of time. 2. Present peasants have stronger equal view of two sexes,efficiency sense, independent consciousness,technology awareness,concept of time,they are glad to accept the new things,indifferent gradually to the traditional family idea,and the self-orientation begins to strengthen.But peasant traditional still exist to some degree,they don't care about the information of policy,their concept of law is not strong,their self-protection ability is weak; their view of traditional consumption has not changed,and their consciousness of the risk yet is scarce.Generally speaking,peasants are no longer traditional peasants,their modernity is strengthened greatly,and traditional influence is weakened gradually,their personality and social psychology is being gone through the transition from tradition to modern.3. According to single factor analysis and foundation of linear regression model, here are some factors influencing peasants to get modernity,which including sex,age, education degree, income,region flowing,job flowing,human communication,political background,etc.Among these influence factors, there are four variables:education degree,the motivation of job flow,human communication,media's amount,play the steady and notable role.4. The modern behavior obviously has close relations with the modern attitude. Peasants with stronger modernity are relatively modern in consuming style,leisure style,family's life style,participation method of politics,etc.This proves that peasant's modernity benefits to modernization. We must put forward peasant's modernity as an indispensable important index to weigh modernized level in our country.5. To train and improve peasants'modernity,we need everyone's efforts,we must offer chances and conditions,such as economic environment,culture background,information background,social policy environment and social living environment,etc.
