"Mathematics is gymnastics of thinking". How to foster students' mathematical thinking in mathematics is what mathematics teachers Pay much attention to. Exploratory teaching method, which is able to foster students' mathematical thinking and ability, creates reasonable question environment and makes students gain development by exploring subject contents and cognitive strategies. This study mainly explains the meaning, type, condition and teaching pattern of exploratory teaching, suggests the meaning, character and thinking way of mathematical thinking, as well as 5 aspects of fostering mathematical thinking and explores the use of fostering students' thinking characters. This paper criticizes the disadvantage of present mathematics teaching method in the high school and suggests exploratory strategy and pattern which are appropriate for the practice of class teaching and innovation teaching experiment has been made. This teaching strategies of exploration, which are suggested by this study, are:1.inspiration and guidance, innovation environment. 2.coordinate study, knowledge exploration. 3.solutions to problems, conclusion drawing. 4.changeable practice, indule and deduce. 5.reflective adjustment and comments.The fotlowing conclusion can be made after one year's experimental research:1.Implementing the principle, strategy and method of the exploratory teaching takes advantage to improve the mathematical scores of the high school students.2.Executing the principle, strategy and method of the exploratory teaching is helpful to improve students' mathematical thinking and ability.
